5 Evening Habits That Are Bad For Your Hair

Hair is one of the first things people notice about others. For instance, when a person is bald, others will notice this impression in first place.

This is one of the reasons why people have a comprehensive hair routine, doing pretty much anything they can to keep their hair healthy and fresh. However, not all routines are made equal, and sometimes the habits we have could do more harm than good.

Here are some of the habits which are bad for the hair, plus tips on how to prevent them.

Sleeping with wet hair
Most people tend to turn in for the night after washing their hair, as they already feel exhausted. However, this is a very damaging routine because the hair is weak and this habit increases the chance of it breaking. The friction from wet hair rubbing against the bed sheets as the person sleeps can cause fizziness, dryness, and broken cuticle ends.

To avoid this, simply move this routine to the morning. And, if you really need to wash your hair at night, use a hair dryer or give the hair plenty of time to air dry.
Brushing badly or not brushing at all
Brushing the hair right after getting out of the bathroom damages the hair the same way sleeping with wet hair does. But, there are as many negative effects which come from not brushing before bad at all.

Sleeping with tangled up hair adds more tangled to it and causes split ends, fizziness, knots, and breakage. By brushing dry hair before bed, you stimulate the scalp and promote shinier and healthier hair.

The best option is to give your hair plenty of time to dry before bed so that you can run the brush through it before you fall asleep. As a matter of fact, brushing the hair can be quite relaxing, so it can help you sleep more easily. For optimal results, use a wide-toothed comb.
Using the wrong pillow cases
Cotton pillowcases are likely to increase hair loss, as cotton causes added friction to the hair and leads to looser hair follicles or breakage. Sheets which collect lint are even worse, which means that older pillowcases which need replacing will cause the same problems.

It is recommended to opt for satin or silk, both of which are healthier options for the hair. It is a great investment to make, because it makes for a more luxurious bedtime, as an added bonus. If you cannot afford silk or satin sheets, you can get a silk scarf to wrap your hair up at night.
Tying your hair incorrectly
Tying the hair incorrectly has been shown to damage the hair as you sleep. Using a hair which uses metal parts can be particularly damaging, because the metal can tar at hair follicles while you sleep. Tight elastic bands are also damaging, especially when the hair is wet.

The solution? You can avoid tying the hair. If you must do it, use loose, soft scrunchies that are free from any metal. And, tie the hair very loosely. You can opt form a loose high bun, a nice braid, or a high ponytail if your hair is not too long.

Skipping hair care
Many people think that shampooing and washing the hair is sufficient for full hair care, but this is undoubtedly far from the case. Incorporating some extra steps beyond washing the hair is critical, and there isn't a better time to do so than before bedtime.

How to practice proper hair care? First, condition the hair as often as you wash it. .For scalp care, put on a scalp mask before yougo to sleep.
